SCULPTRA
Poly-L-Lactic Acid
WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is a purified poly-L-lactic, biodegradable filler that is naturally absorbed by your body. When injected into the face, Sculptra helps your body to produce more collagen, resulting in filling in the desired areas.
This dermal filler is unlike other injectable fillers. Other fillers generally have an immediate effect on the face. But Sculptra works slowly, gradually working with your body’s own natural collagen. As a result, plumpness has a more natural look.
BENEFITS OF SCULPTRA FILLER
- Stimulates collagen growth
- Natural looking results
- Corrects deeper wrinkles
- Safe, FDA-approved
- Results last up to two years
- Restore volume to the face
- Smooths facial lines & folds
- No downtime

SAN ANTONIO SCULPTRA INJECTIONS
As people learn more about new and emerging cosmetic treatments they frequently have questions. For instance, many have Sculptra injections questions after seeing their friend’s transformation or hearing about it online.
Like other injectable fillers, Sculptra is used to fill in fine lines, deep lines, and creases, but at a slower rate than other fillers.
In 2004, FDA approved Sculptra lipoatrophy; fat loss in the face that leads to the appearance of sunken cheeks as well as deep folds and indentations. In 2009, Sculptra Aesthetic was approved as a treatment for deep folds and wrinkles for people who have healthy immune systems.
Sculptra uses a collagen stimulator called poly-L-lactic acid to restore volume and fullness to the face. The process is gradual and develops over the course of weeks to months. It eventually results in a softer, more youthful appearance with existing lines and folds filled in.
Sculptra is considered safe and effective as long as the person is not allergic to any of its ingredients. It also is not recommended for individuals who have a medical condition that causes irregular scarring. Talk with your provider about any diagnosed health issues you have, medications you take, and other treatments you receive. No treatment is appropriate for all people. So, it is important to keep your provider informed so they can guide you towards the safest and most effective treatment options for you.
Like other cosmetic injectables, Sculptra has a few possible side effects. The potential temporary side effects include:
- Redness
- Swelling or tenderness
- Discoloration
- Bruising at the injection site
Most people may return to their normal activities immediately after receiving Sculptra injections.
HOW DOES
SCULPTRA WORK?
Sculptra imbues the jowls, cheeks and temples, plumping up sunken contours and improving the overall profile. Different from other dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm that are made with hyaluronic acid, Sculptra relies on the power of poly-L-lactic acid. This compound is gradually absorbed by the body and works to revitalize collagen production, and restore your skin’s volume and structure.
In general, most patients require at least 3 Sculptra sessions over the course of 10-12 weeks. And maximum results are noticeable around 6-8 weeks after the first treatment. While individual treatment sessions and results vary, Sculptra results can last up to two years.
